Sound Off!

244/365

So it's Welcome Weekend right now.

And this is the weekend before classes start where the first years get a chance to get to know campus and go do activities where they get to know other first years.

It's also a big competition weekend for each of the residence halls.

One of the main events is called Sound Off. This is where the RHC writes a song about their residence hall to the tune of popular (or not so much) songs. Then the first years and any other residents who want to participate go down to Foss Field and shouts sings their song for everyone to hear. The RHA then votes to see who wins.

I participated my first year and then after that not so much.

But I did this year.

It was fun. Though it would have been more fun if I had been standing by my friends.

I got a cool Commuter Student shirt!

This was before I got my face painted.

My Picture Wall

242/365

So all last year I had my picture wall. It's set up in front of my desk so when I'm sitting there (which is most of the time) working on stuff I can just look up and see all of my friends looking out at me and smiling. It's such a great feeling. There are pictures from my sophomore and freshman year of college, as well as a few from high school. I also have some pictures that I've pulled out of magazines and some quotes that I found that made me happy.

This summer I ordered about fifty more pictures from this last year alone. And I got them in the mail the other day. Today, I put them all up and expanded my picture wall.

These pictures on my wall are the faces of the friends that I will have for the rest of my life. And I love that. I love seeing them so happy and I love seeing me so happy. In every single one of these pictures on my wall I am happy. And I love that.

It's a good feeling seeing yourself be so happy. Also seeing your friends so happy. That's the best feeling of all.

I will be sad when I have to take these pictures down at the end of this next year, but maybe when I move into my new apartment I can put them up again. I'll have to decide if I want them up like I do now, or pick a select few for frames and put the rest in photo albums.

I don't know yet. I won't know until I get there.

Until then I will enjoy having them up on my wall.

In other news I got to see my friend Ben today! He moved into his new house today so I got to run over and see him. Rachel, Megan and our friend Anna came too! It was nice seeing him and getting to talk to him in person again. He's my college little brother. He picks on me alot. :P

Now I'm watching The Orphanage with Rachel.

I'm glad that I'm surrounded by people I love.

It helps me remember that I am worth it. That I am loved. And that I can love myself.

Paint Wars

238/365

So I am in a happy place right now.

I was called by my friend Alex and he asked me to come help paint my old residence hall. So I went.

It was fun getting to see some friends and just being with people. I painted a couple things and got to chat with friends.

At one point I dotted Alex's face with paint and then he gave me a hug and smeared it onto my own.

Later, we kinda had a paint attack. He painted on my cheeks and I let him so then I gave him a hug back. Then I can't remember how it started but he held the brush over my head and it dripped on me, I was trying to get some paint from my finger on his face. Then I grabbed the paint brush and painted on his cheek and then more paint got on my arm and then our friend Madison ambushed me.

This is the result of my face.

My arm is worse but I didn't want to take a picture of my arm. :P

I might go back and continue to help tomorrow. :)

Sunday: Skittles Vodka

224/365

On my first night at Evan's, we decided to do some extra special preparations for our epic night of drinking games (we were totally responsible) by making skittles vodka. It was super easy to make (the filtering did take some time) and the end result was some delicious but strong Skittles flavored vodka.

Step One: Sorting the Skittles.

We made all five flavors but these three are my favorite over all. The orange and yellow were especially strong.

It wasn't ready until the next night when Evan had a couple super hot friends over. We played drinking Mario Party and Settlers of Cataan. It was so much fun!

These Boots Are Made for Walkin'

222/365

And that's just what they'll do.
One of these days these boots are gonna walk all over you.

These are my new boots.

How adorable are they???? I am so excited to wear them and show them off!

SO cute!

They were my big purchase of the day yesterday. I went shopping with three of my favorite ladies.

My mom.

My mom's best friend Maria.

My Pastor, Katy.

It was a really enjoyable day and I'm so glad I got to go!

Sneaky

212/365

At first glance, this may seem to be an ordinary blanket just curled up on the bed.

But on closer investigation there is a kitten curled up inside just waiting to pounce.

I miss having cats around all the time. :)

VBS Day One

211/365

I am exhausted and I don't want to get up and get my camera from across the room. So I will be posting pictures tomorrow when I'm rested.

The first day of VBS went really well. The kids are all sorts of crazy but they were just super excited. They had tons of fun and Mom and I did too! We spent the morning decorating the church. We changed it into Hometown Nazareth: Where Jesus Was A Kid.

This is the sanctuary. This is my favorite place this year. It turned out really great.

The altar. I love that blanket. It's the best part of the decorations.

We borrowed most of the big backdrops from Advent, my home church. This is where the kids can color.

Mary's house. The kids come up here to hear Mary tell stories about her boy, Jesus.

Hometown Huddle. All the kids with Mom.

I'm excited to go back and spend some more time with the kids.

Pretty Painted Nails

207/365

I never paint my finger nails. NEVER. I always ding them up and then I get so frustrated with trying to touch them up that I just take the paint off of them anyway. But I painted my nails today none-the-less.

And I added a pretty sparkly nail. It matches my toe nails.

Which are ALWAYS painted.

Happy Birthday Megan!

Monday July 18, 2011

197/365

It was Megan's Birthday! The Big 21!

We started out at Ray's Boat House in Ballard. She had her first couple drinks there, we ate some food, and then we took pictures out on the balcony with the GORGEOUS sunset. Then we had dessert. I had Almond Ganache Cake with Rhubarb Compote. It. Was. So. Good.

Then we went out to Tini Biggs. It's a martini bar in Seattle. It was super classy and we had tons of fun. I was the DD so I had one drink at the beginning of our time there and then I chugged water. Linnea was pretty responsible but Megan and Rachel got super silly. It was a great night.

New Hair!!!

182/365

I finally got my hair cut! AND I LOVE IT! I look like a different person. And I love it. I'm excited to get my headshots done by Kylie on Saturday.

Right when I got home after the cut. It's still a little damp.

Later on in the day when it was dry.

Happy Birthday Rachel!

181/365

On Friday after work I went to Rachel's house for her birthday party! I had so much fun. It was so nice to just go hang out with friends and I didn't have to worry about anything other than getting my hair cut the next day. I laughed so hard that I made my head hurt. And all we did was play games. I swear we played Apples to Apples for three hours.

Beautiful Rachel and her yummy cake!

The best Apples to Apples round. Goldfish eventually won.

Rachel and Laura. For her Mom. :)

Late Post is Late

165 & 166/365

So all of these pictures are from yesterday and not from two days ago. But I posted many pictures to make up for it.

We had a spontaneous Inebriated Apples to Apples-Cookie Making-Friendship Night. It was so excellent. We really enjoyed ourselves. Obviously.

Potatoes and Shopping

160 & 161/365

Friday I made myself some Potato medallions sauteed in a little butter and fresh basil and rosemary sprinkled with salt. They were so delicious!

Today I went shopping. :) It was great fun.

A Who in Sweeney Todd???

155/365

Gloria was using a curling iron that was foreign to her. And this "Who-esque" curl occurred. It was great. :)

I'm done with the show for a few days. It will be nice to have a little break from the show. Now all I get to "focus" on is work.

Preview Night!

152/365

Tonight was our preview night! It could have been better but I think we all had a really fun time while we were there and that's all that matters!

So this is Gabe.

We met during the show and we really just clicked. He is so precious and we have a lot of fun together.

The shoes he wears in the show are so giant. They make my feet look itty bitty!

Also throughout June, I will be doing the 30 Day Song Challenge.

Day 01 - Your Favorite Song: "Perfect" by Pink.

Stage Makeup

151/365

This is me in my stage makeup. It's kinda faded after a final dress rehearsal before we perform for an audience! It's gone really well, but we're kinda nervous because our Barber's Chair arrived today and it was broken. So they're fixing it and the people who die in the chair have an extra early call time tomorrow before the show.

It's gonna be so great! We're all really excited!

And the Vocalists Win!

146/365

We finally broke the loosing streak! The Vocalists won the Annual Throats Vs. Arm/Lips Softball game! It was a great game! It was close all the way through but in the bottom of the eighth we took it away!

Ben had never played baseball before. When he went up to bat at one point I told him to remember to keep his elbow up, that's always helped me. And he got an epic hit! It was so great!

It's starting to hit me that people are leaving for the summer, and I'm gonna be around here. I used to be the one leaving. Not anymore. I'm gonna miss people. Like, a lot. But I will make sure that I have time to visit friends. :)

Fold or Scrunch: The Mystery

89/365

While I was writing this, the song "Kelsey" by Metro Station came on my shuffle. I found it appropriate!

First of all, I would like to give a BIG HUGE shoutout of thanks to every single person who filled out a survey for me. I appreciate it so much and this was SUPER fun! I loved reading everyones answers and I hope you had fun filling them out and seeing yourself featured here.

So. Without further ado, I will solve the mystery of the "Fold or Scrunch" question. The full question would read, "Do you fold or scrunch your toilet paper?" I assumed that people knew what that meant. My friends and I had great debates over which was the preferred method in high school. It was quite a battle we had one day. If you wish to answer the question properly, feel free to drop a comment informing us. If not, that's ok too!

So I already posted the blog of my answers to my questionnaire. If you missed it you can find it here:

Below are the questions that YOU asked ME! If you feel that your answer is unsatisfactory, or that your question did not make it on to the list for some reason, OR you just want to ask me another question, feel free to send me a message and I will answer it for you! The questions are anonymous because that's just what I wanted to do!

1. Have you ever sent anything to PostSecret? I have not. I want to though. I have a couple ideas written out. I just have to make the post card.
2. If you could be an animal what would it be and why? I guess I would be a cat. They always seem pretty happy. Curling up in the sunshine or on a warm lap and just purring would make me happy.
3. What is your favorite song lyric? Oh wow...I think it depends on the day and the song that is stuck in my head. Like right now it’s “My mama told me when I was young/we are all born superstars.” The other day it was “Pretty pretty please/Don’t you ever ever feel/That you’re nothing/You are perfect.”
4. Would you rather be stuck on a plane with snakes or with loud and crazy monkeys?? God forbid I would ever be on a plane with snakes. Snakes terrify me. They give me the heebie-jeebies. I can handle the monkeys.
5. Something (share-able) you feel guilty about, but definitely don’t regret: I think it would be a moment when I lied. I was a chronic liar when I was younger.
6. Of all of the books ever written, which one do you wish you had come up with? Oh man. This is a hard one. I think Inkheart. I love writing and reading fantasy and I could have come up with Inkheart!
7. What is the best adventure you've ever been on? I have been on a lot of adventures. And most of them have been incredibly fun because I was with people that I loved dearly. I think most of what makes an adventure amazing is the people that you are with.
8. Miss Kelsey Girl: If you had to tattoo someone’s name on your arm, whose would it be? I dunno. I don’t think I would get a tattoo, let alone tattoo someone’s name on my arm. But I feel like I would be the person who got absolutely smashed for once in my life and then went to go get a tattoo of my boyfriend’s name. That would be the one stupid thing I would do in my life that I would absolutely regret forever.
9. Would you rather Kick a puppy or make a Child cry? Why? Honestly, I wouldn’t want to do either. Ever. But since the person who asked this will probably force me to answer, I would have to say make a child cry, if it was an accident. That way I can comfort him/her. I could pull them into my lap and snuggle them and make them feel better.
10. What is the most ridiculous pet name for a significant other you can think of? Snoogy-Woogy. I don’t know. Don’t judge.
11. Imagine yourself riding on a hippo. Where are you? Why are you riding a hippo? Is there anyone with you? ;) I am on an adventure in New York City. I am riding a hippo because it escaped from the zoo and I am riding it back to the zoo with someone who means a lot to me.
12. If you could have any job in the universe what would it be? Well…I guess I would really like to be an author and have books published. That way I would be forced to write down all of the stories that I have floating around in my head. Which would in turn make room for more. If you ever want to look at something I’ve written, lemme know!
13. If you were to write a book about your life, what period of time in your life would you want to be the most profound? Probably the next portion of my life. After I graduate and really head out into the world on my own. No school, no teachers, no parents. That would make a really good book I think.
14. If you could send this questionnaire to one celebrity and guarantee that they would answer every question truthfully, who would it be and why? Ryan Reynolds. He’s number one on my freebie list and I would want to know these random things about him.
15. If you had to pick one secret about you that everyone would know, what would it be? Oh man. I don’t know. Most people know most things about me. I don’t keep secrets from my really close friends. It helps people understand me better and that’s how I connect with people.
16. What do you think has been the most peaceful moment in your life? Anytime I am out under the stars. I don’t get to do it very often and I love just looking up at them. I have never done it with someone that wasn’t a platonic friend though. If I could plan my first date, I would want to go do that….
17. If you could script one day of your life, how would it play out? With song and dance. Actually…I kinda already live my life with song. I have a song for pretty much anything. And usually I sing the lyrics wrong. So I would just have songs for everyone else to sing and a choreographer would come and help us all dance.
18. Kittens or Puppies…and why? Can I pick both? They’re both so snuggly and sweet and precious.
19. If you found a magic lamp and the Genie said he could grant you any wish for just one day, what would it be? To bring all of my dearest friends together at Disneyland with just us and I would spend a day with all of the people that I love.
20. Why did you come to PLU? It was on a list that I had made for me and when I came up to visit my grandparents for Thanksgiving I came and took a tour. I got to sing with Choir of the West and that was when I knew I was supposed to be here. :)
21. If you could live in any time period in history, when would you live and why? Hmmmm….this is a tricky one. I think the Victorian Era. I have always loved the look of the time and, while women didn’t have a whole lot then, I would have been able to be involved in music and have a family with kids, which are the bare bones of what I want to do now. So if I lived then I would get to do all of that while wearing fun clothes!
22. What was your first impression of me before we became friends? Hmmm…I guess I thought that you were a sweet girl. I don’t really remember. I didn’t know you that well and then suddenly we were friends. :D
23. Who is your favorite historical figure? Man. I don’t know. Why is everyone asking me really hard questions! I love it though. I think Martin Luther King Jr. Every time I hear one of his speeches it just gives me goose bumps.
24. The Zombie Apocalypse is here! Now! RIGHT THE-HELL NOW! What that is in the room with you right now do you grab on to way to the door, and where do you go to seek refuge? I don’t go anywhere. I grab my phone and call everyone and tell them to come to my house because it’s on the second floor and we have food and heat and everything we need to win the war.
