Getting Ready For New Years

363/365

I spent this afternoon prepping for New Years foods! I will be spending it with my girlfriends Maurine and Megan, just like last year. So I'll be ending my blog with pictures of the same beautiful ladies that I started it out with!

I prepped goat cheese, balsamic strawberry, and pesto bruschetta. There isn't any pesto in the picture because I didn't have any then. But my roommate Jon had some pesto and is letting me borrow it! I do need to buy him a new one but that's ok! It's super yummy and it will be really good while we're drinking!!!

And these are the cherries that are getting drunk in brandy. I will be dipping them in chocolate tomorrow with my best friend Maurine. And we are all so excited to be eating them!

I can't wait! :)

Home Again

362/365

I am back home at The Muffin Top. And I've been here for a couple hours. And I still haven't unpacked. But I need too.

But it's ok. Because I get to do awesome New Years things soon and I'm excited.

Also: Three pictures left. Crazy huh?

Christmas Aftermath

360 & 361/365

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. I was spending too much time reading Inheritance. I read it in pretty much one day. It was glorious. Not kidding. It was a good ending and I didn't have any big problems with it. It was great. I had to read it in that short amount of time because it was my dad's gift.

And today we took apart our Christmas tree. My parents don't want to have to worry about it after New Years which they're spending with some friends! :)

Just like me. :)

A Pink Nightmare

359/365

Merry Christmas!

It's Christmas Day but I have a few moments to post this.

In our house we don't watch A Christmas Story until Christmas Day.

And our favorite part is where Ralphie has to put on that horrendous pink bunny suit.

This year I got Footie Pajamas from my grandparents so I decided to recreate that scene.

It worked well, aside from the fact that I started to laugh. :)

Christmas Presents

357 & 358/365

Yesterday I went to my other family's house and I saw the new Sherlock Holmes movie (which is amazing by the way. Go see it. It's glorious.) and then went back to their house to hang out for a little bit. My brother Dylan had just gotten back from Africa so he brought me a present. A little hippo carved from stone and painted oh so cutely.

So you know that song "I Want a Hippopotamus For Christmas"? Well I got one! :)

This morning (like around 3:00) I woke up to the second of my Christmas presents. An immense need to worship the porcelain throne. Yes that's right faithful readers. I got sick. Really sick. Several times sick. Merry Christmas Eve to me. :P

So this morning I curled up on the couch and began to sip on some water and sprite and napped. After i got some sleep I felt better so I just tried some toast. We'll see how that stays down and see if I can have Christmas dinner.

My water and sprite cups.

Sisters

356/365

God didn't give me any biological sisters.

But he sure as hell gave me two unbiological sisters.

This is Christine.

And I love her dearly. I don't know what else to say. She's just the best ever and I don't know what I would do without her. :)

Christmas Decorations

355/365

Only ten more pictures left this year. Only ten.

So my mom loves Christmas. Like, LOVES Christmas. It's her favorite holiday. And as such she loves to decorate. She has all sorts of amazing decorations.

This year there were new pillows on the couch.

Gingy Pillows! Super cute and super fun to hug. :)

Obligations

354/365

As the owner of a new phone. It is my obligation to take a picture of myself using a fun function and post it online. So I did. On Facebook. I tried to do it here but it really wouldn't work.

But it's ok.

This is the picture I took today. :)

Tumblr

I'm not leaving Blogger. No worries there. But I did get a Tumblr. Simply Kelsey. It's just gonna be a place to post silly/pretty pictures that I like and so I can follow a few Tumblr accounts that I do like. :)

Picture is coming later.

Baking Day

353/365

Today Mom and I baked the Christmas cookies for this year.

We started out making a little of our Chocolate Pecan Toffee.

Mom stirring away.

Butter, Sugar and Pecans

Cooling in the Fridge

Then we made a new thing, Chocolate Cherry Fudge.

It's super yummy!

And this is my favorite Christmas cookie. We usually call them Raspberry bars for short. But here's part of the recipe. If you want the full thing you can ask me. :)

And here it is after it's been baked.

We also did spritz cookies but I didn't take pictures of those. :) Those are also my favorites.

Kittens

347 & 348/365

I am back home.

And I am happy. So happy to be home and relax. :)

And because it's Christmas, that means it's time for our annual tradition of Cat Hats. We also have cat Touques but this year my mom found more festive hats. There's also a Santa Hat with a beard but the only good pictures were with the reindeer antlers.

These are both of their "If I didn't love you so damn much, I would kill you" faces.

Princess

Spork

We really do love them. :)

The First Hot Chocolate of the Season

My Room

344/365

Is messy.

I need to clean it. And I will tomorrow.

After my paper is done.

After my conducting stuff is ready to go.

After I've gone Christmas shopping.

And before family dinner night.

I'm almost done with the semester.

Thank God.

Hi, My Name is Kelsey

341, 342 & 343/365

And I am a dummy.

Because I had all of these great pictures to post.

A picture of a pile of yummy cookies that Harmony and I baked.

And many pictures of our CWMEA Holiday Party.

But as I was uploading them to my computer, I was trying to delete an extra folder, I deleted all of the new pictures.

That was the face I made when I realized what I'd done. It was awful.

So.

This is the bag that my white elephant gift came in. It was a giant ornament that could have come off of the Nordstrom Christmas Tree.

And these are the instructions for my take home final!

Hopefully I'll take great pictures for the rest of the year to make up for it all. :)

Designer Disney Princesses

340/365

These are the new Designer Disney Princesses.

Aren't they pretty?

Mom has been sending me the new greeting cards that they have with one princess on each card. I took a picture of the ones I have (Rapunzel, Ariel, Snow White and  Mulan) but my photo editor was being funky today, so I couldn't upload it.

So I just found a picture with all of them.

It's wonderful.

More Craziness

337 & 338/365

Sorry sorry! But I have bonus pictures today!

Monday:

Yesterday was our biggest Christmas Concert. It's at Beneroya Hall in Seattle and it's where the Seattle Symphony plays. So we went to sing and play (for the orchestra kids) our little hearts out. We always manage to bring it and make this one our best concert. It's always really great and we have tons of fun!

The picture from yesterday (which I actually took today because I didn't take pictures yesterday) is a picture of the beginning of my solo quartet from one of our pieces. It's in Basque and it's super beautiful. I really enjoy it.

And today:

It's Dead Week Folks. And this is the week when college students go crazy. I was trying to pull my scarf off my pulling it over my head instead of just unwinding it and then it was hanging over my head funny and then I was laughing and then I fell on the floor and laughed. Harms took a picture. This is dead week personified.

Bonus!

These are the pictures that we got for our big choir tour in January. This is The University Chorale. We're a good looking group aren't we?

And this is my section. The Altos. I love being an alto. We get really great harmonies and we just own it. So these are the Choraltos. Some of the younger girls call me "A Mama" and I call them my "A Babies" (I'm section leader.) and I love them dearly.

Christmas Concert Craziness

334, 335 & 336/365

Sorry that I haven't posted. Christmas concerts and recitals and early to bed nights have made it hard to keep up. Especially when there is nothing worth taking pictures before the late afternoon.

Friday:

Harmony and I went to our friend Laura's senior recital. Because it was so late I bundled up with a sweatshirt under my pea coat. I emerged from my room and Harmony said "You look like a negro charred marshmallow!" (NOTE: When she said that word she was TOTALLY thinking in spanish. That's why she said it.) And we proceeded to laugh about that and about a million other things for the rest of the evening. After the recital we just stood in the lobby laughing our heads off and generally being giant weirdos, but having fun.

Saturday:

There was yet another Christmas concert on Saturday. I was exhausted. I hadn't slept well Friday night and then I had to get up at six after falling asleep around 2:00 or 3:00 and go to work. I did take a two hour nap but then I had to work on a philosophy project before I went to my choir concert. Then the concert, which is exhausting in itself. But it was still good (the best so far) and I had fun. This is me afterwards right before bed.

Today:

We had another concert today. I think I'm just super tired because I didn't have as much fun as I usually do (and there were other things on my mind as well). It was a matinee performance so I had some time when I got home. I went to the store and got some hummus for dinner. It was quite delicious. :)

Class Projects

333/365

Today I had a project due in my Adaptive Music class. It's basically a class that teaches us how to adapt our music classrooms for students with special needs. And we had to make a prototype of something that could be used in our classroom by a student with special needs.

I chose to make a spinning music stand! (more or less)

And I drew this picture! I DREW IT! I cannot draw at all. It's awful. But I drew this and it turned out great!

And in comparison with the real thing!

PORTLAND!

332/365

WEDNESDAY!

All day was our first big Christmas concert in Portland! It was SUPER fun but SUPER exhausting! We had a lot of fun!

Our Concert Sign!

The stage!

The house!

The pretty ceiling!

The lobby is gawgeous!

Me and one of my besties! (HEEEEY GUURL!)

And my choir soul mate forever!

The most handsome Sam! (It's the VELVET!)

And this is three fourths of our family. Julia and Eric. Julia, Harmony (my roommate) and I are sister wives and Eric is our hubby (he didn't have a say in it.) If Harmony had been there this would have been our Christmas card! Oh well. We have another one to go to!

It was a great concert and I can't wait for the next ones!
