Friday: Practicum and NOMT

257/365

My Friday was quite the experience. I got to sleep in for a little bit. When I woke up I was going to do some of my philosophy reading but I ended up doing some other things. They weren't unproductive, but they really weren't all that productive.

So then I went to practicum class and we talked about the strike that's going on in a city close to us. It was really pretty interesting to talk about strikes and what we should do in case we as new teachers are ever caught up in one.

And then I had to frantically try and get to my practicum school in less time than I thought I had. AND THEN I got stuck in HORRIBLE traffic and I ended up being late.

I will admit that I got a little flustered and anxious on the way there, but when I got there, the teacher I'm doing practicum with was SO chill and relaxed about it. She said it was all fine and that I really didn't need to worry. So I got to watch her last class and a half of the day. She has such a calm way of teaching and even when she was dealing with her trouble makers she stayed so chill.

I now know why I was put in her classroom for practicum, other than the physical reason that I had her on my list. I've always been kind of high strung and anxious and it's hard for me to relax in teaching settings, so I think that God is trying to tell me that it's ok for me to relax when I'm teaching by giving me first hand experience with a teacher who has been doing this for twenty years.

After practicum was done I headed home and prepared for my NOMT audition. NOMT is Night Of Musical Theater. It's a yearly Broadway review type show and it's pretty popular. I auditioned a couple years ago but didn't make the cut. I wanted to try again this year especially because my voice has grown and developed so much in the last couple of years. So I went and sang my heart out.

I sang "I Don't Know How To Love Him" from Jesus Christ Superstar. It went really well and then there were little group singing things. A harmony song and just some basic sight reading stuff. We read Velma Kelley's part from Cellblock Tango (from the show Chicago), and I swear I'm not being conceited, but I KILLED IT! I felt really good about myself afterwards!

It was a pretty good day all in all!

Did I Go To The Gym Today?: No. I'm beginning to realize that I may have to rethink this gym thing....

Monday: Ampitheatre

246/365

On Monday night I had a mini-rehearsal for convocation. It was good to be back in MBR with all of these people. So wonderful.

I love being a music major.

The Practice Room

235/365

So, even though I only got a few hours of sleep (I had work from 11-3 and then I had to get up at 7:00 for breakfast. Of course I didn't fall asleep until at least 4:45.) I diligently went to all of my classes for campus safety. Even though NONE of them had anything to do with what my job as an escort officer entails. I went. And I sat through them.

Thankfully I had a classmate to sit with and I've made a couple new friends. So it's been good. But long and boringish.

After everything was over for the day I wanted nothing more than to just fall into my bed and fall asleep. But I decided to be a good student and go to the practice room and sing through my audition piece a couple times.

So I did.

Then I came home and crashed.

So.....

I won't be posting pictures until Tuesday. Because I'm awesome like that.

But tonight I spent maybe an hour and a half just singing. I was with Megan and Rachel and we went into MBR and then into Lagerquist. The lights were all out but we didn't care. We just went onto the stage and we just sang our hearts out. It was a moving experience and we were all just happy then. We weren't thinking about problems. We were just making music. It was so incredible. I'm sad I didn't have my camera on me. I could have gotten some good pictures I think. :)

Also...

:) Happiness for me right now.

Karaoke Night!

153/365

We had a good opening night. It wasn't perfect, but it went well. We are continuing to have fun and that's why I do theater. Because its fun! So after opening we went next door to La Palma for after show cocktails and karaoke! It was so excellent.

Rochelle and Adolpho rocked "Summer Nights" from Grease! It was so funny! The rest of the cast that was there played the parts of the T-Birds and the Pink Ladies.

I love my cast. Everyone was so welcoming and even though I don't have a lot of theater experience they didn't think twice about acting with me. They just did and I appreciate that. :)

Ampitheatre and Juice

133 & 134/365

I will post this picture later today. I may or may not have had a shot of 151 that took more out of me than I thought last night. :P

Hahaha! Here we go!

Yesterday was the PLUtonic/HERmonic Summer Concert. Usually it is held in the wonderful ampitheatre but just before it started we were asked to move into Lagerquist. Good thing too because by the time it was over it was pouring down rain. The concert was so good and my blogging buddy Erin had a wonderful solo that was beautiful and amazing!

This morning I was so glad that there was juice in the fridge. Because I REALLY wanted juice this morning as a result of what I did last night. :/ ;)

God, That's Good!

114/365

I am back on the stage ladies and gentlemen. I had my first Sweeney rehearsal today and it was so great! We worked on the larger ensemble numbers, the beginning and ending ballads and God, That's Good tonight. It was fantastic.

The best part though? As I was leaving the producer Halle was saying goodbye to people as they left and she said "Bye Kelsey! I love listening to you sing."

It made me really happy.

But now I have stayed up far too late and I have to get up far too early tomorrow. No shower for me and to bed I go.

Catch up time.

55 & 56/365

Sorry I didn't post yesterday. The power went out at home and I went and crashed in Megan's room on campus after a thing for Leif.

It's amazing what a towel hung over the one uncovered window in your house will do. The house is that much warmer.

And this is a song that I purchased to sing for Leif on Monday. A small group of women will be singing it at PLU's rememberance ceremony for him. I posted about it earlier with the lyrics. :)

City On Fire!

43/365

I've been listening to/singing along with the ensemble pieces for Sweeney Todd. I was told to do so before my callback which is tomorrow! I'm excited. It will be fun. :)

So There's This Person In My Life

11/365

And she's amazing. Her name is Harmony and she's my roommate. Today while I was getting ready for PLU Idol she became my personal assistant, my hair stylist, my make up artist and my cook [EDIT] And my escort.. She is so amazing. And I love her.

Don't mess with her. She'll put make-up on you. In ways that you won't enjoy...
